Monday, 18 February 2008

sometimes I change my mind about what I like and sometimes I don't. sometimes I discover new things that I like and sometimes I want to forget that one day I liked them. sometimes there are things I want to like (such as beer... its very useful here! =p) and some others I just wanna keep myself far from liking them. sometimes I forget something I like and only eons later I find it again (like some musics lost in my pc or clothes lost in my closet...) and some other times I make sure that something I like does not go away. sometimes I change my way of liking something and other times I just like something in one way and one way only! sometimes there are things I know I will like forever and some others I feel myself liking them only because they happened in a special time, in a special place, near special someones (even if I didn't know them). =)

Anyway... saturday night was the blues festival in Delft. I confess that it isn't the kind of music I listen to every day, but it was the kind of thing that happened in a special time, in a special place, near special someones (that I did and did not know).

well, listen what I listened to (the way I listened to =p) on saturday night and I think you will like it in your own kind of way:

questo è per te...

Friday, 15 February 2008

I don't like fermentations! I don´t!

but I love this music... I love...

enough said, the make-shift
is a comfortable chair
sit back and i'll tell you
we're living in fear
and i don't know
why you talk so rough
why should i be
not sure of my-
self my intentions
they are cristal clear
i wanna pay my duty
to your daddy dear
hold on to your decency
i'll make you whole
and we'll be free

isn't it always so?
the story is unfold, at least
you got a different role
and now you gotta quit
the scene

I favour your flavour
I'm confronting you
you stroke a bad patch
with the man who has you
and baby won't you
consider me
I'll make you whole
and you'll be free
and we're driving around
on a saturday night
we're feeling alright
everything's in sight
and baby won't you
consider me
I'll make you whole
and we'll be free

isn't it always so?
the story is unfold, at least
you got a different role
and now you gotta quit
the scene

isn't it always so?
the story is unfold, at least
you got a different role
and now you gotta quit
the scene

isn't it always so?
the story is unfold, at least
you got a different role
and now you gotta quit
the scene

tks tomaz =)

A creepy story...

It all started on Saturday night, when we decided to go out and watch a movie in the cinema.
Well, everything was ok until the movie started: Cloverfield!

…a really good movie, but also compleeeetely terrifying.

It is so real and so agressive in each moment that, if I already yell a lot in terror movies, in this one I almost had a heart attack. Even the Blair Witch project didn’t make me feel as frightened as this one.

But the story does not end here... and since I am always with my camera, I also taped what came next, just like the guy in the movie did. =p

Is quite funny seeing people (us included) leaving the rooms and the building (not by the exit doors!) all relaxed, smiling and wondering about what the hell was happening… haha
I still don’t know what happened there but, since it was just after our movie ended, I think that someone who was also seing that movie really enjoyed it and decided to scare people by making the fire alarm go out.

a post for the girls that want to do a tattoo!

today in the kitchen my friend (and roommate) Eva told me after looking at my neck:

- You are crazy!!! always complaining about waxing, and then in the end you have a tattoo!

well girls, actually, concerning to this subject, I am not crazy!

To those who want to do a tattoo but are afraid of the pain: WAXING HURTS MUCH MORE!!!! I would rather do a tattoo every 2 weeks if that could make all my undesirable body hair (I don't know the exact word to it in english, sorry) go away!!! =p

to those who have holiday (grrr...) and still didn't celebrate...

happy carnaval people!!!!

mine has already passed and it was in maastricht with teletubbies, people that I don't know who they were but that had sun glasses, people with horns, pandas that yell (a lot!), dedicated priests (I don't remember the name of these kind of priests...), hugs, jukeboxes (this one is for you alperce! =) ), sexy snow whites and capuccinos drinked by a straw (because it was so so so so cold that I didn't have courage to take out my extra special state-of-the-art gloves! (translation: luvas xpto especial de corrida!)!):

...

When I was a little child, while all my girlfriends wanted to be butterflies, mermaids, bambies or even mother of children, I remember that I wanted to be a tiger or a lady lion. Their mixture of beauty, respect and velocity were just perfect for our plays. Furthermore, tigers and lions could always win bambies, butterflies, mermaids and mothers. =p
Later and because my dad was always bothering me about how important was to study, graduate and be someone important in my life, I, only to annoy him, decided that firewoman would be a good option.
Being like Einstein also ran through my head. It would be quite interesting to be so intelligent (an easy thing for me... =p) and admired by everyone. The only problem was the secondary effects... a crazy look!!!
Football or politics never came to my idea, maybe because I already had moral values and respect for people by that time.

After so many decisions and indecisions, choices and doubts, other options arose while I was getting older, mature and responsible (cof cof...): journalist, lawyer, teacher, among others... until I finally chose for science.
well, it is not that I regret it, but sometimes I don't know if it was the best option. For example, in an inspiration moment, last friday I burned two cottons in a row (two more to add to the huge list). =p

Maybe i should have chosen an artistic career. However, it is never too late. Since I already know about science, I could do Modern & Contemporary Art inspired on Science. For example, this one below should be in the Louvre don't you think so?

...maybe not!!!

haha

ps - my lab environment also doesn't help me on getting a normal scientific carrier...

(while my lunch)

but, actually, I even enjoy eating on the floor!!! =)

yesterday in the train, on my way back home (from amsterdam) =)

me (drinking an yogurt and eating an apple) - excuse me, do you know if albert hein has already closed?

old lady - since it's sunday, I think it has. (a =/ face)

me (like saying "shit" with the face) - ohh... well, at least I have dinner for today.

old lady - I also have here cookies if you want. I made them myself. it´s not a dinner but it helps.

(laughs)
(me peaking a cookie)

are u studying here?

me - yes I am. I am doing an intership in delft.
hummm... your cookies are really good!!!

old lady - tks!! I made them for my grand-chidren. do you want to see them?

(picture)

me - ohhhh, so cute.

(smiles)

old lady - you have a scientist face. are you on science?

me - wow... yes. how do you know? was it really because of the the face?

old lady - no no, I was just kidding... I realized it by the way you are grabbing the yogurt and the lid with the same hand, just like the scientists do with the cottons.... I was also a scientist once you know!?!

(me smiling)

and where are u from?

me - portugal.

old lady - ohh, u are portuguese. do you know that next week I am going to the portuguese part of india? goa. I am very anxious.

me - oh really? I don't know the place unfortunately. alone?

old lady - no no. my husband is getting really old, even in the mood, very annoying! so he prefers to stay at home resting, I don't know from what. I'm going on a girls trip.

(laughs)

I also plan to go to portugal, but not now. now, while I am still young (laughs), I plan to go as far as I can.

(smiles)
(silence for some time, looking trough the window)

you don't seem portuguese... you seem a small dutch girl!

(laughs)

me - about the dutch part, you are not the first one saying that.

old lady - ohhh... delft is here (sad face). take one more cookie.

me - oh tks... and... well... byeeee. maybe we meet in portugal.

old lady - maybe. byeee. (a smile)

=)

Thursday, 24 January 2008

A few days ago I had a meeting in a dutch company involved in bioethanol production.
It was a meeting like those in the movies, with a big and long table, surrounded by important people discussing important issues.
I went there with my supervisors and, although I was a shadow in that table, very quiet and still, I felt quite important there... well dressed, with my coffee and glass of water. =)

ps - my most recent acquisition to my post-card collection... =)

Parabénssss mãe*** =)

The problem of drinking alcohol...

I don't know if "problem" is the right term here… The truth is that, when we are not used to drink alcohol, 2 or 3 cups of sangria become already a problem! Since yesterday I drunk about 6 cups, you can imagine the problem that it was. I can just imagine... because remembering is a problem!

And well, for the first (and ONLY) time I got drunk in the NL!

Fortunately, the birthday party was in a house next to mine, so I didn’t become such a big problem.

Now I am in my house with my head hurting a lot and hoping that the huge amount of water I have just drunk solves the problem!

=p
